About these terms

Acceptional (also called Acceptional Learning) is a speech-practice app for young children, about ages 4 to 8, to use together with a grown-up. It is run by [Company legal name] ("we" and "us").

These terms are the rules for using the Acceptional website and app. By creating an account, signing in, or using Acceptional, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. It is part of these terms.

Who Acceptional is for

Acceptional is for parents and guardians, and for children using it with an adult. Only an adult can create an account. By creating one, you promise that you are an adult where you live and that you are the parent or legal guardian of the children who will use it, or that their guardian has said you may.

Children should not create accounts, sign in on their own, or change settings. An adult should stay with the child while they play and is responsible for how the child uses the app.

Some games can be played without an account. These terms apply to them too.

Household and guest accounts

The person who creates the account is the main account for a household. The main account owns the household's story library, sets the weekly story limits, and can invite guests, such as a grandparent or a babysitter.

A guest joins by opening an invite link from the main account and choosing a password. We do not email the link. The main account shares it. An invite link stops working after 14 days, and the main account can cancel it sooner. Guests must be adults too.

The main account is responsible for the guests it invites. The main account can remove a guest at any time. Removing a guest signs them out and ends their access. Stories the guest already made stay in the household library until someone with permission deletes them.

  • Give us accurate information. Names and labels you enter, like "Grandpa," are shown inside the household and on the stories that person makes.
  • Keep your password private. Do not share a login with people outside your household.
  • Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.

Speech practice is not therapy

Acceptional is a playful way to practice saying words. It is not speech therapy, a medical device, or a test, and it does not diagnose anything.

The speaking games use automatic speech recognition, which can mishear children. A miss in a game does not mean your child said something wrong. Some games let you tap to continue when the microphone is off or the word is not heard.

If you have questions about your child's speech, language, or hearing, please talk to a qualified professional, such as a licensed speech-language pathologist or a doctor.

Acceptable use

Please use Acceptional the way it was made to be used: practicing speech and making gentle stories with your child. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

  • Do not enter story ideas that are violent, sexual, hateful, scary, or unlawful.
  • Do not put other people's private details, such as full names, addresses, or phone numbers, into a story idea.
  • Do not try to get around the story filters, the weekly limits, or sign-in.
  • Do not break, overload, probe, copy, or reverse-engineer the service, and do not use bots or scripts to use it.
  • Do not resell access to Acceptional or use its AI features for anything other than your household's own use of the app.

AI-made stories and voices

Story Time uses artificial intelligence to plan a short story and to make pictures and short video clips from the idea you give. The sound in the clips is made by the AI too. The companion's voice is a computer voice. These tools are run by other companies. Our Privacy Policy lists them.

AI can get things wrong. A picture or clip may look odd, may not match your idea, may include things you did not ask for, or may not be right for your child.

We try to keep things child-friendly. We check story ideas against a list of blocked words and well-known characters before they go to an AI model. We ask the AI to keep stories gentle, and we check the story plan it sends back the same way. These steps reduce the chance of something unsuitable. They cannot remove it, and we cannot promise that every result will be appropriate.

A parent or guardian should preview a story or watch it with the child, and stop anything that looks wrong. You can delete a story from the library at any time. If something concerns you, tell us at [privacy contact email].

Your stories

The ideas your household gives and the stories it makes are yours. We do not claim to own them. Because AI helps make them, we cannot promise that a story is unique, that no one else has something similar, or that it can be protected by copyright.

To run the service, you give us permission to send your story ideas, scene text, and pictures to the companies that help us make and play your stories. That permission is only for running Acceptional for you.

Finished pictures and video stay on your device. They are not stored on our servers. We keep only a short record of each story, such as its title, idea, who made it, and when. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, the pictures and video may not be there. Use Download in the library to keep a copy.

Our content

The Acceptional app, its design, code, companion character, and name belong to us or the people who license them to us. You may use them as these terms allow. You may not copy, sell, or build on them without our permission.

Weekly limits and changes to the service

Each household can make a limited number of stories in any rolling seven days. New households start at 20. The main account can set the household limit anywhere from 1 to 50 and can set a lower limit for each guest. A story counts when you start making it. If you leave one unfinished, it stops counting after about six hours.

We may add, change, limit, or stop any part of Acceptional at any time. That includes games, voices, AI models, and limits. We will try to tell you about big changes that affect you.

Some features depend on other companies' services. If one is unavailable, a feature may not work, or the app may use built-in word lists and practice pictures instead.

Availability and no warranty

Acceptional is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that it will always work, be free of errors, or be secure. We do not promise that speech recognition will be accurate, or that using the app will improve any child's speech.

To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limits on our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data. That includes stories kept only on your device.

For any claim about Acceptional, our total responsibility is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.

Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits a right or responsibility that the law does not let us limit.

Ending your account

You can stop using Acceptional at any time. The main account can sign out, delete stories, and remove guests in the app. To close a household account and ask us to delete its information, email [privacy contact email] from the address on the account.

We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if your use puts other people or the service at risk, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Acceptional. We will try to tell you first when we reasonably can.

When an account ends, your right to use Acceptional ends. Parts of these terms that are meant to continue, such as ownership, the disclaimers, the limits on our responsibility, and governing law, continue.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top. If a change is important, we will tell the main account in the app or by email before it takes effect.

If you keep using Acceptional after a change, you agree to the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using it and contact us to close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [State/Country], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts located there, unless the law where you live lets you bring a claim somewhere else.

If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in place.
